MINIMALIST INTERIOR FOR A YOUNG COUPLE
Location: Port of Aiguadolç, Sitges, Barcelona
We were commissioned to intervene a dysfunctional three-floor property, which was part of a series of terraced houses in the port of Aiguadolç, Sitges. The original house had a traditional distribution characterized by small rooms and apportioned environments. Inspired by the client’s wishes, we faced a broad renovation of its interior architecture. We designed a wide, open and dynamic space bathed by natural light. We developed tailored spaces and made-to-measure furniture in accordance to the new owner’s needs and habits. We opted for neutral colours and natural materials to create a comfy sense of living.

STORIES & METHODS
Dark and disconnected rooms governed the three floors of this traditional house that wasn’t taking full advantage of its natural surroundings. To improve its functioning and relationship with the outdoors we had to face a significant architecture refurbishment. We designed a ground floor for social life, starred by a custom-made kitchen and a living room with new openings to enjoy the Mediterranean views and its sunlight. Natural materials such as wood add a sense of well being to the common area. We also designed a custom wooden bar table and equipped it with Kartell’s Master stools. In addition, an artificial lighting system allows the owners to adjust and play with the space depth. We opted for white walls and furniture to enhance the perception of spaciousness.
By the ladder, an opaque glass establishes a transition between the lower common area and the upper private space of the house. As the owners would work from their new home, we developed a customized office room on the second and middle floor of the property. Next by the office, we built a new full made-to-measure master suite with bed, walk-in closet and bathroom. The latter was equipped with white minimalist furniture, opaque divisions and Duravit wellness products.
We remodelled the third and last floor – which was originally designated to a storage area – for the new owners to enjoy its outdoors. We created a new opening with a private terrace. We designed a continuous and suspended deck to integrate the inside with the outside through a one and only wooden floor.
