FINE MATERIALS FOR A LUXURY BATHROOM

In the last years, there has been big steps in the construction technology regarding ceramics, so present in the bathrooms. The fragile “red paste” ceramics have been replaced by strong pieces in extra large sizes and minimun thickness that let work with less gaps and faster ejecutions. RARDO-Architects, always working to be up-to-date with the needs of the market, has been using this new materials and finishings in some of our most recent projects in the last years.

Krion is one of the most popular “solid surfaces” materials. With a high content in quartz, it has the strength and the resistance of the stone materials and, on the other hand, its high content in resin let us to create forms and give it shapes. We like to use in tops and basins, because its pure white colour and its posibilities, from integrate the wash basin with the top without joints to make a single sculptural piece from it, with a towel rack or a shelf at the side.

Another novelty that has been celebrated by profesionales is the extra large ceramic tile format, with sizes up to 1 x 3 m ore ven larger, keeping a minimun thickness, around 6 mm. This feature make possible to put it even over the existing material, with minimun joint and spectacular results.

Last but not least, the tile finishing has been improved to the max in the last years, with spectacular desings and incredibly detailed patterns that make them very close to the real deal. Mosaics, reliefs or marble, the finishings of the bathroom is uncanny without needing expensive natural materials like slab, stone or glass. Also, being an artificial material, it lets us to combine colours or finishings in the differents walls and spaces to get spectacular results.
