The ideal home Should be a pure, serene and relaxing space, in which natural light bathes the rooms. In this case, this house in Olivella, Barcelona, has been conceived as a place where its rooms transmit serenity and calm, and its natural materials fill the interiors with life and charm. The house should be a refuge to which we want to return to, in which living is a pleasure. In this project, the Rardo-Architects created an extension to create spaces to enjoy and to share with the family. At the beginning of the project, we studied in depth the design of the existing volume and we focused on exploring the possibilities offered by its most essential elements. In this way, we broke with the classic approach of false ceilings and compartmentalized distribution to create open, continuous and flexible spaces. After this refurbishment, the dining room connects to the kitchen in the same space and the light from the garden is now accessed through four large windows. A new larger lounge is located a few steps above, also with large windows that frame the views towards the hills of Olivella, in the province of Barcelona. The rest of the house is distributed between 5 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for the family and their guests. When we conceive a space we also think about the design of the furniture that, together with the natural materials chosen, help create a contemporary and cozy home.
