Contemporary design house in El Viso | MADRID

Our architecture studio was commissioned to design a contemporary family home in the exclusive Madrid neighborhood of El Viso. The project involved demolishing an existing property and creating a new modern residence centered around a striking cantilevered roof that extends over a large, private garden. The house is designed to embrace its surroundings, creating an intimate relationship between the interior and the outdoor spaces.

The clients desired a home with a modern aesthetic, elegant yet minimalist volumes, and spaces that would offer both privacy and a strong connection to the landscape. The house design integrates seamlessly into the lush, green surroundings of the plot, taking full advantage of the dense vegetation for natural privacy. The glass enclosures throughout the home allow unobstructed views of the garden and pool, framed by minimal wooden carpentry to maintain an elegant yet contemporary feel.

Light control is a key feature in the design, achieved through sliding wooden slat panels that regulate the views and sunlight. These adjustable panels allow the homeowners to tailor the amount of natural light entering the home, while also ensuring privacy when needed.

To further enhance the home’s modern style, the private areas are enclosed with large concrete walls, offering privacy and protection while still allowing minimal natural light through small, repetitive openings. The use of concrete continues with the flat roofs and eaves, creating a minimalist and sleek aesthetic that is both simple and functional. The large cantilevered overhang extends over the garden, offering shelter and framing beautiful views of the surrounding nature.

One of the most striking features of the home is the integration of the outdoor spaces with the interior. The garden is carefully designed to create a flow between hardscaped areas and green spaces, with orthogonal paths that lead from the entrance through to the pool, solarium, and other garden areas. These pathways are designed to connect different parts of the property, guiding inhabitants seamlessly between the interior and exterior.

The garden also extends inside the home in certain areas, bringing vegetation into the living spaces for a natural, organic feel. The lower level of the house opens completely to the outside, creating an open bar area that connects directly to the garden, ideal for entertaining and enjoying the outdoors.

The landscaping features a long swimming pool, which acts as a striking visual element that flows across the plot, extending from the entrance corner of the property and connecting with the house. This sleek pool is seamlessly integrated into the overall design, becoming part of the home’s unique aesthetic while offering a luxurious space for outdoor relaxation and recreation.
