We were was aksed to design a contemporary family home in La Plana neighborhood. Located in a peaceful, well-established area with modern amenities, La Plana offers the ideal setting for this spacious, family-oriented residence.

The clients, a young family, sought a modern home design with an expansive and open ground floor, minimizing walls and partitions to create a connected living space. The goal was to design a home where the living areas flow together harmoniously, connecting directly with the garden and pool area to create a unified environment.
Taking advantage of the south-facing plot orientation, we placed the key living areas, such as the kitchen, dining room, and living room, on the southern side of the house to maximize natural light. The northern side is reserved for functional spaces such as the guest toilet, staircase, and entrance, optimizing privacy and convenience.
One of the most significant elements of this modern villa design is the use of large exposed concrete overhangs on the upper floor. These overhangs provide excellent climate control by reducing solar heat gain while maintaining optimal daylight inside. This passive design feature creates shaded areas that improve the home’s energy efficiency and comfort, making it a more sustainable choice for the family.
A key design principle for the project was the seamless relationship between the interior and exterior spaces. To achieve this, large windows were strategically placed on both the ground floor and in the bedrooms on the upper floor. At certain points, the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living blur, creating a more connected, open atmosphere.
The ground floor is designed as an open-plan living area, where the kitchen, dining room, and living room are interconnected and have direct access to the garden and swimming pool. The northern side houses the essential functions such as the entrance, staircase, and a guest toilet, ensuring privacy and separation of public and private spaces.
An additional feature of the home is the multifunctional auxiliary volume at the back of the plot. This space includes a full bathroom, a Murphy bed within custom-designed furniture, and a dedicated home office area, offering incredible versatility for work, guests, or relaxation.
The upper floor is dedicated to privacy, with the master bedroom set apart from the other rooms. This spacious suite includes a large walk-in dressing room and an en-suite bathroom with a double sink and separate shower and toilet areas for added comfort. The master suite also opens onto a large private terrace, which connects to the terraces of the two other bedrooms, offering outdoor access from every room.
One of the standout features of this home is the roof terrace, accessible via a semi-circular staircase. This open, skyward-facing space offers panoramic views of Sitges and the surrounding landscape, providing the perfect setting for relaxation, outdoor yoga, or enjoying a sunset with family and friends.
