An architecture studio RARDO-Architects was entrusted with designing a modern villa on a spacious 600 m² plot in the prestigious La Plana area. This new development, located near the Mediterranean Sea in Sitges near Barcelona, offers a prime location with breathtaking views of the Sitges old town and the coastline.

The villa’s contemporary design is configured using a series of mid-levels that gently emerge from the ground as a solid, opaque ensemble that becomes more transparent as it rises above ground level. The building is oriented to maximize panoramic views of the sea and surrounding neighborhood, with large concrete overhangs providing natural shading to protect the interior from excessive sunlight while still allowing light to filter through. This design feature helps regulate the home’s internal climate, making it more energy-efficient.

The residential areas of the house are distributed across two levels. On the lower level, access is provided from the outside, with the majority of daytime living spaces designed in an open-plan layout. These rooms, including the kitchen, dining area, and living room, all have direct access to expansive outdoor terraces and offer views of the infinity pool located on the upper level. We also incorporated a separate guest room on the ground floor, ensuring privacy for both the homeowners and guests while allowing discreet access when needed.

The villa’s exterior is designed to be private and secure, with a fortress-like facade facing the street to shield the interior from om possible furtive glances from the exterior. In contrast interior courtyards allow abundant natural light and fresh air to flow into the lower floors, creating a connection to nature while maintaining privacy. Landscaped terraces surrounding the home provide ample outdoor space for relaxation and entertainment, completing the home’s luxurious and functional design,
To minimize earth movements during construction, the design carefully integrates the home into the natural slope of the plot. The resulting terraced volumes ensure the home blends seamlessly with its surroundings while reducing construction costs and environmental impact.
