Our architecture studio was hired to design a stunning modern villa on a spacious 1,200 m² plot in Olivella, a peaceful area near Sitges, Barcelona. This hillside location offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the sea, providing the perfect setting for a luxurious family home.
Family villa on a sloped in Olivella | BARCELONA
The architectural concept for this modern villa design focuses on a series of mid-level volumes that rise gracefully from the landscape. The design begins as a solid, opaque structure at ground level, gradually becoming more transparent as it ascends. This progressive design allows for expansive panoramic views of the sea and surrounding neighborhood. Large concrete overhangs shield the interior from excessive sunlight, ensuring the home stays cool while still inviting natural light to fill the spaces.

The residential design of the villa is presented by the areas which are spread across three levels. The main entrance and daytime living spaces are located on the intermediate floor, seamlessly connecting to expansive outdoor terraces and an infinity pool. The elevated pool area provides a perfect vantage point for enjoying the stunning views.

Our design also incorporates separate guest rooms with their own private entrance from the street, allowing for discreet use. Additionally, the lower level features a gym, spa, and extra guest rooms, providing luxurious amenities and ensuring maximum comfort for residents and visitors alike.
The exterior of the villa is designed to feel private and secure, with a fortress-like appearance from the street, protecting the interior from from possible furtive glances from the hotel complex located near the back of the site. However, the villa embraces natural light through interior courtyards, which bring the beauty of the outdoors inside. Large landscaped terraces offer ideal spaces for relaxation and outdoor living, while a light overhang completes the exterior, adding to the home’s modern aesthetic.

The terraced design of the volumes, which adapts to the natural slope of the land, minimizes the need for significant earth movement during construction, contributing to the home’s environmental sustainability.
