The team of architects at architecture studio RARDO-Architects in Sitges, was commissioned to design a contemporary family home on a 600 m² plot in the desirable La Plana neighborhood, a peaceful residential area near Sitges and Barcelona. The virtually flat plot is situated on a quiet street, offering a prime location for creating a modern home with a focus on outdoor living spaces and natural light.

The design of the villa is centered around a series of mid-level volumes that gently emerge from the ground, creating a sleek, modern structure. The building is oriented to maximize the views of the south-facing garden and swimming pool, allowing the family to enjoy optimal sunlight and outdoor access. Large concrete overhangs on the upper floor provide shade, controlling the amount of sunlight entering the home and helping to keep the interior cool, making the house more energy-efficient.
The residential design includes two levels, with the main living areas located on the lower floor. These open-plan spaces, including the kitchen, dining room, and living room, are designed to flow into each other and directly connect to the outdoor terraces and swimming pool. The pool is designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, allowing for a beautiful connection between the home and its outdoor spaces.
We also created a separate guest room on the ground floor, offering privacy for visitors while maintaining discretion. This space ensures that guests have their own area of the home, which can be used independently.
The exterior design of the villa is purposefully closed off from the street, creating a fortress-like appearance that enhances the privacy of the house and shields the interior from external views. Conversely, interior courtyards have been designed to bring natural light and fresh air into the lower floors of the home, improving the connection to nature without compromising on privacy. Large landscaped terraces surrounding the house provide ample space for outdoor living and entertainment, while a light overhang completes the home’s modern aesthetic.
